Built for adventure and made for impact, the Waterhaul Firesteel Fire Starter combines reliable fire-lighting performance with our mission to tackle marine plastic pollution.

With a handle built with 100% recycled fishing gear recovered from the UK coastline, this compact firesteel produces a powerful shower of sparks to help ignite tinder, kindling and fire lays in challenging outdoor conditions. Whether you're wild camping, hiking, bushcrafting or preparing an emergency survival kit, it's an essential piece of outdoor equipment.

Unlike matches or disposable lighters, a ferro rod fire starter continues to perform in wet, windy and cold conditions, making it a dependable backup whatever the conditions throw at you.

Firesteels are widely used by bushcrafters, campers and outdoor instructors because they generate extremely hot sparks and remain effective long after traditional fire-lighting methods fail.

80mm x 10mm Ferro-Rod - 15,000+ strikes.

The stainless steel striker also features a bottle opener, 50mm ruler and 1:100000 navigation plotter making it a versatile adventure companion.

The handle of the fire starter is made with Traceable Marine Plastic that we've recovered and recycled from the UK Coastline, and your purchase directly supports out mission to recover and recycle waste fishing gear and marine plastics.

Trace the sources of plastic in your Firesteel with the QR code included on the packaging.

So far, we've recycled 96169kg of marine plastic and your purchase will help us to increase this even further.

To use the firesteel, hold the striker firmly against the ferro rod and pull the rod backwards while aiming the sparks into a prepared tinder bundle. Use dry, fine tinder such as cotton wool, feather sticks or natural fire-starting materials for best results. The firesteel produces a shower of hot sparks that can ignite tinder quickly, even in wet, windy or cold conditions, making it a reliable fire-lighting tool for camping, bushcraft and outdoor adventures.
