Upcycled sustainable sunglasses / glasses retainer strap hand-made from fishing nets recovered from beach cleans of the Cornish coastline.

Handmade from nets collected from the Cornish coastline by Behaviour Change Cornwall.

The nets are carefully washed, untied, worked to remove kinks, before being trimmed and tied to create an eye-catching, functional and adjustable eyewear retainer strap.

Designed for adventures (and to ensure your recycled sunglasses don't end up returning to the sea!).

Custom-made to fit the entire Waterhaul frame range, and the adjustable loop design means they should fit with most other eyewear frames too.

The length of the strap can be adjusted, depending on if you want a tighter fit behind your head, or a looser fit while your sunglasses are hanging around your neck.

Straps can be positioned in front of or behind the ear on the temple of the frame, depending on personal preference.

Each eyewear strap has come from a specific ghost fishing net, collected from the Cornish coastline by Behaviour Change Cornwall, represented by a batch number that has been laser engraved into the stainless steel beads on each strap.

Fitting:
Insert the tip of the sunglasses arm through the loop on both sides. You can use the stainless steel bead to loosen or tighten the loop for a more secure fit to your frames.

To Tighten:
Pull the two knots away from each other.

To Loosen:
Hold both ends of the strap and pull in opposite directions.

Our adjustable eyewear straps are crafted from 100% repurposed PP or HDPE fishing gear recovered from the Cornish coast.

The same strength, durability, and flexibility that make this gear harmful in the ocean make it perfect for securing your eyewear on any adventure.

Each strap features a stainless steel bead engraved with a batch number that provides full traceability, including the date, location, and weight of the recovered material.

Just received the green and orange cord. Work very well when tightened using the metal cylinders. Like that you can adjust the length because of the generous size of the cord. And like even more that these are upcycled.

So good, I've just bought a second green/orange strap. I find that these straps are slightly softer than than the black version, which I prefer. Not sure if I'm imagining that! But definitely worth having, as they work so well.

Felt very insecure on the glasses

The problem is the retainer strap is fine but doesn't 'retain' my new Mylor sunglasses as the (sunglasses) arms just get thinner and thinner so the strap just slides off if you take the sunglasses off and try to hang them round your neck. All in all a bit pointless and a bit of a waste of money really.

Love this design ! I get lots of compliments and questions when I wear it with my Harlyn sunglasses

Colour is great. Unfortunately doesn't grip onto the glasses frame very well. Wouldn't trust walking around with glasses hanging on with this strap.

These are really useful and perfect for holding glasses generally but also when litter picking to stop glasses falling off when retrieving litter inland and will be when I am next litter picking on beach

Disappointing

The eye wear strap is functional but not practical. Sadly the material is too rigid, almost like a piece of wire.

Practical and great use of human litter

I''m always impressed with the new innovations coming from Waterhaul but saddened that its sea litter that seems to be providing a constant source of raw material.
These eyestraps are brilliant and people ask about it, so its a great way to spread the word.

Game Changer!

Didn't think straps were for me, but after using them for the past week I'm 100% a convert! So lightweight that you don't notice them at all, and I like how adjustable they are for a more secure fit when I'm paddleboarding.

Love my new strap! Really comfortable to wear, and love that it’s made by another local company. Being able to trace where the net was collected from is a nice bonus too

Functional, looks unique and good for the soul!

I have to say after buying three pairs of sunglasses (they look great), my problem is that they slide off too easily despite softening the ear piece. The announcement of retainer straps was the most perfect solution, they're comfortable to wear and not embarrassing to have on show! I love boasting that they are saving the planet.
